Letters to Hannah A Compilation of a
Civil War Soldier's Letters to His Wife: $19.95
U.S.
Self-published by the Clinton County Historical Society, made possible through
the efforts of Harlan Berger, David Wallace, and others dedicated to telling the
story of the Civil War Soldiers.
Wilbur Loveland served through the entire Civil War as a Sergeant with the 7th
PA Calvary in the Union Army's Western theater. His poignant letters to his wife
Hannah give us a glimpse into conditions the Union Soldiers endured, both hard
times and lighter moments, as well as a quick glance into life back home in Lock
Haven through a soldier's eyes. You will laugh and cry at the same time as
you follow Wilbur through the Western Front. But, more than giving the
reader a peek into the life of civil war soldiers, these letters give rise to a
mystery: 'what really happened to Hannah?' Was Wilbur and Hannah's
marriage a sad love story or a laborious match? Can you the reader solve the
enigma?
As a bonus, the book includes genealogy of not only the Loveland family, but
others mentioned in Wilbur's letters and other interesting facts about the 7th.
