The Clinton County Historical Society wants everyone to enjoy the breathtaking sites, sounds, and history of our beautiful County. Below is a quick tour map pointing out areas of interest in Clinton County. Since space is limited on this map, we are recommending only general regional points of interest within the county. It is our sincere hope you will stop and explore other nooks and crannies you come upon as you cruise our winding, tree lined roads through the majestic mountains and deep within our gently rolling valleys.
Welcome to Clinton County, Pennsylvania, your gateway to the Pennsylvania Wilds and the PA Lumber Heritage Region. This brochure is your personal guided driving tour to Clinton County's rich history. So, let's get started! Clinton County was formed by an Act of Legislature in 1839 from portions of Lycoming and Centre Counties. It is primarily an Agricultural County and supports a large population of Amish. The county seat is Lock Haven. It was named after Governor DeWitt Clinton, the Governor of New York, who worked with Jerry Church, founder of Lock Haven, to bring the extensive canal system to Clinton County.

- Agricultural Land Use: 53,000 acres
- Average Farm Size: 127 Acres
- Home of the Piper Cub
- Home to Monuments erected by Folklorist Henry Shoemaker, can you guess how many? Some in these parts say over 200!
- Home to Woolrich Inc., for 175 years.
- Five State Parks for camping, hiking, and fishing, with State Game Lands for some of the finest hunting.
- The first 4-wheel drive/4-wheel steering truck built in the USA was built here in Clinton County

- The Logan Mills Grist Mill next to the last remaining covered bridge in the county.
- The Bull Run Restored One Room School House
- Watch the hard working Amish Farmers as you take in the beauty of the gentle sloping farm fields dotted with peacefully grazing cows and horses surrounded by majestic mountains.
- Visit the monument to the last Indian Massacre in Pennsylvania in the East End of the Valley
