Just think of the awesome task we have on behalf of future generations and what we owe past generations by preserving Clinton County’s History!  As a volunteer, you are the rock that anchors this Historical Society together.  By becoming a volunteer you enable the Clinton County Historical Society to continue its mission on behalf of past, present and future generations. Your Society needs volunteers from all walks of life enriching our history and enabling the Society’s programs to continue to reach out to our community. What Type of Volunteers Does Your Society Need?

Your Society Needs Volunteers of all talents. Some Volunteer positions available:

Writing Newsletters:     Assists our Editor in planning, producing and mailing our newsletter which comes out bi-annually.

Assisting our Curator with Collection and Preservation of Artifacts/Research:    Assist our Curator with the care, preservation and interpretation of all artifacts in the museum collection, do research on collections, and helping to maintain our Library and Research areas including cataloging, classifications of artifacts and helping people with their research projects as needed.  This may involve planning and implementing new exhibits and displays.

Tours:     Assist our Tour Guild provide guided tours of our facilities on an individual basis or with pre-scheduled groups.

Educational Programs:    Assist our Curator and Executive Director plan, implement and supervise the educational program provided to the public, schools, universities, through special events, seminars, lectures, demonstrations and symposiums.  Some of these events can include, but not limited to our annual Civil War Re-enactment, our Victorian Christmas Reception, participation at the Sentimental Journey and other events throughout the year.

Maintenance/Light Housekeeping:   Assist our maintenance personnel in maintenance of the grounds, buildings on the property, including mowing the lawn, weeding and mulching the flower beds, painting and maintenance of the structures.
    
Volunteering time to our children’s programs:    Assist our  Curator and Executive Director plan and implement our special children's programs including our Children History Camps and our annual Halloween Party.

Gift Shop:    Assist our Tour Guide in the operation of the Heisey gift Shop, planning and maintaining inventory, recommendation of new items and displays.

Office Work/Clerical:    Assist our Secretary with general clerical duties such as filing, copying, database maintenance, membership mailings, records keeping answering the telephone and filling in for staff members when on vacation. 

Fund-raising: Assist our Executive Director in researching, investigating and developing any type of activity that may be carried out to raise funds for the Historical Society.  This may include grant research and phone research.

Representatives to man our show/event booths:    Assist our staff to insure our exhibits are manned at Expos and other events we attend and help bring our message to the public.
